About Eidyn Bio and taking part in the biohackathon.

Eidyn Bio

What is Eidyn Bio?

A deep tech biology community for Edinburgh. We run an innovator circle and a biohackathon. Eidyn is Edinburgh's old Brythonic name.

What is the innovator circle?

An informal, self-organised peer group that meets every two weeks to read, discuss, and build relationships. It's inspired by ARIA's Innovator Circles, but it isn't an ARIA programme (yet).

Who is it for?

Anyone in Edinburgh working on, funding, regulating or writing about biology.

How do I join?

Join the list. The circle is kept small, so we'll be in touch about places.

The biohackathon

Do I need to code?

No. The policy, macrostrategy and journalism tracks need no code, and every science team needs people who can frame a problem and explain the result.

Who can take part?

Biologists, clinicians, engineers, data scientists, policy people and journalists. Full eligibility comes with the application form.

Do I need a team?

No. Apply alone or as a team of four to six. There is time on Friday to find people.

Why dry-lab only?

All work is computational, and every project gets a biosecurity review on Saturday evening before anything is published.

What happens to projects afterwards?

Code and write-ups are published openly. Strong teams can get continued mentoring and partner support.

When is it?

Spring 2027 in Edinburgh. Dates follow once the venue is booked. Register interest to hear first.
